Leveraging on Houghton’s Indonesian Partnership: PT Dwi Centro Perkasa
6/2013
KC Tseng, our SE Asia Operations & Supply Chain Manager, recalled the challenges that Gulf Oil Marine faced for our Indonesian operations, “importing lubricant products to Indonesia has been extremely challenging; it would take us at least 4-5 weeks to get our products to go through the Indonesian customs and other requirements. And this is despite the geographical proximity between Singapore and Indonesia. The supply difficulties in the past created significant operational limitations, and have regrettably resulted in frequent lost business opportunities.”

Monitoring is the Key to future Performance
Marine Propulsion
Direct customer contact and investment in technology are the cornerstones of Gulf Oil Marine’s strategy. Lubrication is not simply a case of supplying approved lubricating oil. It also encompasses in-service monitoring of machinery and performance. Results information that has been analysed is always more valuable than raw data; tailor-made advice about tangible actions that save costs, reduce maintenance, and ensure compliance aids ship operators proactively, both in their daily operations and in the longer term. Gulf Oil Marine has recently begun to focus on making these resources more widely available to its customers.

Reaching the Ports others can't
Asia Maritime
Gulf Oil Marine delivers to the ends of the earth. A major issue facing the marine industry is the increasingly stringent environmental requirements approach taken by regulators. Under the International Maritime Organization new guidelines, ships travelling to Emission Control Areas are required to burn fuel with a maximum of 1% sulphur content, down from the previous 3.5% limit. And the limits in ECAs will be reduced to 0.1% in 2015. The IMO wants to slash the global sulphur cap to 0.5% by 2020, with a possible extension to 2025 subject to a review in 2018.
